I hope and pray you find something here that gives you, or someone you know, hope that there is a life without besetting sin, addiction, hurt, habit, hangup – a life “more abundant” (John 10:10). May God bless you!
WHO I AM:
I am a Christian (I actually prefer the term “Christ follower”), a man, a husband (of a woman), a father, a “later in life” college student, and a pianist and speaker in my church’s nursing home ministry. I was born in 1964; feel free to do the math.
WHAT MY BLOG IS ABOUT:
This blog is the story of my journey in dealing with my “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7), an unwanted attraction to other males, and how it has affected the lives of my family and me. But it is much more than that. It is the story of the forgiveness, salvation, redemption, grace, mercy and hope that is found only in my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. It is the story of how He can – and will – do these things for anyone (even you, reader). It is the story of our value to God, and His ability to (with our cooperation) work miraculously to change us if we have a relationship with Him.
WHAT MY BLOG IS:
It is my personal journal, and as such, it contains some of my deepest thoughts and feelings, as well as statements of my strongly-held beliefs.
WHAT MY BLOG IS NOT:
It is not a forum for debate. I am not here to argue any point and will not do so.
MY BLOG’S TWO-FOLD PURPOSE:
1. So that I may reap the benefits of keeping a journal of my progress on the road that God has me on, and so I can easily look back at how He has guided me down that road, revealing to me what I can handle and understand at the time, how He has blessed me and how He has used me to help others along the way.
2. So that others might be helped by reading of my progress, seeing that there is hope when we put our faith in God and trust Him to do for us what we cannot even approach doing for ourselves.
WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT MY AFFLICTION:
As a Christ-follower, I believe that acting out sexually with a member of my own sex (or with anyone to whom I am not married) is sin and is therefore wrong and to be avoided, whether it is a one-time “experiment,” a lifestyle, or anything in between. However, God bestows on us who truly follow Him undeserved mercy and grace, and I do not expect every Christ-follower to instantly, upon becoming one, leave every sin behind; that would be perfection, a state we will not reach during our life on Earth. I mentioned marriage; I also believe that there is no Biblical basis for same-sex marriage, so when I refer to the only God-sanctioned sexual activity being that which occurs inside a marriage, I refer to a marriage of a man to a woman.
ABOUT READER COMMENTS:
Some of my sinful sexual activities involved me communicating with men who I do not know personally. I have agreed with my wife, then, that to allow comments on my blog (from people I do not know) would not be helpful to my ongoing recovery and walk out of sexual sin. For that reason, comments are disabled.
ABOUT OTHER BLOGS AND OTHERS’ WRITINGS:
The blogs I follow are blogs that I have found helpful, but their content is the sole responsibility of their owners and my following them does not necessarily imply my endorsement of those blogs or their owners. The same applies to content written by others, links to others’ websites, or other content I may post from time to time that does not originate with me.
